Master’s Level Therapist (Community Based)

Job Description

Master’s Level Therapists to service clients in the communities of Miami-Dade County. Bilingual preferred. Under the direct clinical supervision of a Clinical Manager, provides mental health and substance abuse counseling services to clients in Integrity Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities and Duties

Provides individual counseling, group counseling and family counseling, as recommended in client’s treatment plan while meeting established company service delivery goals. Completes and submits necessary documentation for each client in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines and agency policies, within deadlines. Provides behavior management training to caretakers, when indicated. Maintains ongoing communication with legal guardians. Maintains ongoing communication with outside agencies involved with the client while collaborating with other disciplines and services. Attends clinical supervision as required and mandatory training and meetings. Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is essential. Physically able to travel from one client site to another throughout assigned territory.  Must be flexible to meet ongoing business changes of the organizational environment. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide individual, family and group therapy in a school setting and variety of settings in the community. Knowledge of community resources is required. Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Knowledge to identify the needs of abused or neglected children and understands child development; demonstrates awareness of including the client’s culture and socioeconomic position in treatment plans while understanding bias and discrimination. Must demonstrate competence in understanding needs of families in crisis, victims of violence, medical needs, financial needs and the needs of special populations while empowering recipients and families to advocate on their own behalf. Ability to develop rapport and engage difficult to reach, traumatized or disengaged individuals and work with individuals with co-occurring health, mental health and substance abuse conditions.

Required Education

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, special education, health education or a related human services field. Licensure: May have current Registered Intern license issued by the Florida Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Mental Health Counselor Board.

Required Experience

Experience: Two years previous experience providing services to persons with behavioral illness; experience with children, adolescents and their families highly preferred as is previous experience with home visits and managed care health. Recent graduates without prior experience will be under the supervision of a licensed practitioner of the healing arts as described above.
